Inhomogeneity of electron injection rates in dye-sensitized Ti[O.sub.2]: Comparison of the mesoporous film and single nanoparticle behavior
Article Abstract:
Time-correlated single photon counting microscopy is used to compare the emission behavior of dye-sensitized mesoporous films of Ti[O.sub.2] with that of individual anatase nanoparticles that had undergone extensive dialysis. The results have emphasized the importance of simultaneous spectral and temporal characterization of the dye-modified nanoparticles as some of the residual emission might originate from impurities in the substrate and the decomposition products, which cannot be differentiated with only quenching dynamics.

Conduction band mediated electron transfer across nanocrystalline Ti[O.sub.2] surfaces
Article Abstract:
The first spectrochemical and chronoabsorption analysis of reduction of hemin and [Ru[(bpy).sub.3] (deebq)][(P[F.sub.6]).sub.2] where bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine and deebq is 4,4'-diethylester-2,2'-biquinoline or iron (III) protoporphyrin IX chloride (hemin) attached to nanocrystalline Ti[O.sub.2] thin films are presented . The empirical observations indicate that the conduction band is likely to be mediated lateral electron transfer for charge-separated states generated with visible light.
